Introducing The Other Nara
A private guided drive through Oku-Yamato, for guests staying three nights or more.
Most visitors to Nara head to the deer, the temples, the UNESCO sites. The Other Nara is somewhere else — valleys, mountain roads, places most travelers only see from a passing window.
The southern part of Nara — the mountain ranges stretching from Yoshino toward Kumano — is a region of deep forest, among the highest rainfall areas in Japan. Old villages, mountain streams, stone-paved pilgrimage paths. Well-known by name, but rarely entered. Staying in Gojo puts you close to the edge of this.
We're offering a private guided drive through Oku-Yamato as an add-on for guests staying three nights or more. The route is decided together, based on your interests and the season.
