This autumn, the drive is on us — The Other Nara
For the first 10 groups this autumn, the drive is on us — a day into the mountains, gorges, and ancient Asuka. Stays of 3 nights or more.
South of Gojo, the landscape changes — sacred mountains, river gorges, and, just north, the ancient capital of Asuka, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It's the part of Nara most visitors never reach.
This is slow country. It rewards a few unhurried days — three nights, one quiet house as your base, going where each day takes you. Rivers and Asuka's spider-lily terraces in September; the mountains turning colour from late October.
This autumn, on stays of three nights or more, we're making the The Other Nara drive complimentary (usually ¥20,000) — for the first 10 groups. Tell us beforehand what you're drawn to, and we'll build the route around it. Out by day; and by night, back to a house and a town that are completely quiet — the stillness the rest of Nara doesn't have.
