Gojo was where five ancient roads converged.
Travelers stopped here, rested, and moved on.
Yoshino, Tenkawa, Asuka, Koyasan —
the roads into southern Nara still begin from here.
One quiet night to let the day’s journey settle.

somewhere between the journey
and the memory of it.
Slide open the wooden door
and the light comes in quietly to meet you.
Old beams. The quiet smell of timber.
A space stripped of what it didn’t need —
where time moves at a different pace.
You realize something here
that traveling tired and traveling well are not the same.
About Gojo
Gojo, then and now.
In the Edo period, Gojo was a thriving post town
where five highways to Yoshino, Koyasan, Ise, and Kumano converged.
Merchants' houses lined the streets,
and travelers passed through in both directions.
That streetscape still stands today.
